Stretched too thin

by Kyrin Sturdivant

Stretching,

the aching muscles fall into,

the stream of motions worn in stretching—

the confines of a house on lockdown, the fibrous masks overlain in rows, stretching—

into eternity.

the air stirs

between bodies circling the floor. stretching

across a city in shambles,

the people, waiting for relief

funds for the jobs lost,

social and political-

reform, stretching

the limits of the rules they hold themselves to. All of us affected, changed for better or worse,

all the while

we continue

stretching,

stretching,
